Luna: Your Questions Answered

What is the impact of poor sleep on diabetes management?

If you're living with diabetes, you know how impactful a bad night with diabetes can be. In fact, 77% of people with Type 1 describe their sleep quality as poor, spending an average of 40% of their night with elevated glucose levels.1 This can significantly affect quality of life — research indicates that poor sleep due to inconsistent nighttime glucose levels can disrupt next-day functioning, affecting everything from mood and energy to overall health and daily performance.2 Poor sleep has also been linked to increased insulin resistance, which can significantly complicate diabetes management by elevating blood sugar levels during the day and night.

How does stable nighttime glucose control benefit my overall health?

By stabilizing your glucose levels throughout the night, Luna can improve your sleep quality, reduce the risk of overnight hypo- and hyper-glycemia, and lead to better energy levels and mood the following day. When you have a good night’s sleep with diabetes, days become better. That’s why our slogan is “Better Nights for Better Days®.”

Who can use Luna?

People with Type 1 diabetes who are 18 years of age and older and currently manage, or would prefer to manage, their diabetes with multiple daily injections (MDI) and use a continuous glucose monitor. We plan on running additional studies with the FDA to allow us to bring Luna to our younger friends and also those with Type 2 diabetes.

How is Luna different from traditional insulin pumps?

Luna is designed to be used in conjunction with your existing therapy and only when you sleep, providing automated insulin delivery without the need to wear the device during the day. Here are some features that make Luna special:

  • Set and forget: Unlike traditional pumps that have hundreds of settings, Luna requires just a single input one time to set up, with no daily adjustments needed.
  • Compact design: Luna is significantly smaller than any current insulin pump, making it less intrusive. In fact, it is the worlds smallest.
  • No tether: Eliminates the hassle and discomfort of tubing or wearing a patch pump 24/7. With Luna, you only wear it while you're sleeping.
  • Direct fill from pen: Conveniently fill Luna directly from your rapid-acting insulin pen. Minutes matter, and with Luna the process to fill it takes four to seven times less than with other insulin pumps.
What do I need to start using Luna?

To use Luna, you'll need a prescription from your healthcare provider, a compatible continuous glucose monitor (CGM), a rapid-acting insulin pen, and a personal smartphone to manage settings, reminders, and receive updates. During the day you use your insulin pens exactly as before.

How is Luna integrated into existing diabetes management plans?

Luna works in conjunction with insulin pens and can be a part of broader diabetes treatment plans. It offers automation for those who find traditional insulin pumps too cumbersome, invasive, or costly.

Can I travel with Luna?

Absolutely! Luna is designed to be easy to use on the go. It's ideal for supporting your diabetes management, no matter where you are.
